OpenPanel is an open-source analytics platform β an alternative to Mixpanel and Google Analytics that keeps you in control of your data.
Why open source?
Our code is public. Anyone can read it, contribute, or check exactly how their data is handled. You can explore the code and contribute on GitHub.
Why choose OpenPanel?
We started OpenPanel as an open-source alternative to Mixpanel. Mixpanel is strong at product analytics but doesn't cover web analytics well, so we built OpenPanel to do both in one tool.
For a detailed comparison with other tools, see our guide on open source web analytics.
What can you do with OpenPanel?
OpenPanel includes:
- Web Analytics: Insights similar to Plausible, Fathom, and Simple Analytics.
- Product Analytics: Track product usage and user interactions, like Mixpanel.
- User Retention: Track and improve how users come back.
- Funnels: See user journeys and conversion paths.
- Events: Track specific user actions.
- Profiles: Build per-user profiles to understand your audience.
- Real-Time View: Put live data on a big monitor in the office.
- Export API: Export your raw data via the API.
- Chart API: Pull chart data into your own dashboards.
Commitment to privacy
Your data is your property and you control it. The tracking script is open-source and complies with GDPR and CCPA. We don't use cookies β instead we use a privacy-friendly hashed identifier that rotates daily.
Your data is safe with us
We never sell your data. We charge a fee to run the cloud service, or you can self-host OpenPanel for free and keep everything on your own infrastructure. Export or delete your data anytime, with no lock-in.
Listening to feedback
Feedback shapes what we build. Tell us what's missing and we'll work on it.
